My Company: Coffee Reading Writing’s YouTube Channel

Hey friends!

Some of you may know about my company that I co-own with my close friend, Melody. We create custom designs for mugs that relate to all things Coffee, Reading, and/or Writing. Get it? For now, mugs are the focus but we have ideas and plans for the future. We will eventually (don’t know when, yet) add other types of items to the shop. But, for now, mugs are the name of the game.

You can check out our mugs here:

During the new year, our youtube channel got a slight content makeover. For those who watched us before the new year, you may remember both Melody and I being in front of the camera. Well, for personal reasons, Melody will be staying behind the scenes, meaning, only I will be gracing your presence. At, first, that freaked me out. One, I liked feeding off Melody on camera. Two, would you guys even stick around and want to watch videos with just me on them. After releasing the last four videos (we had to temporarily put our past videos on private), all of our viewers have been amazing and supportive! We’re excited for this new year. We have many ideas and a possible big opportunity already lined up for the first half of 2016. As soon as all of it gets finalized, I’ll share about it.

The vlog channel features a lot on the topic of writing lately. It’s the most requested topic and being that both Melody and I are currently in the writing process, we’re more than happy to talk about the subject. Here are our current videos! Feel free to check them out, LIKE them and SUBSCRIBE!

Stayed tuned, we have tons more videos planned! We’re working on another bookish reader mug after the amazing response to the mug we exclusively designed for December 2015’s THE BOOKISH BOX and hope to get that made and released in the next month. Check out our social medias to know all the things! We repost tons of amazing selfies from our fellow mug loving customers!

RELEASE DAY BLITZ: K. C. Lynn’s ‘Act of Salvation’ is here!

Title: An Act of Salvation (Acts of Honor Series #2)
Author: KC Lynn
Release Date: January 27 2016

Amazon US  |  Amazon UK  |  Amazon CA  |
TBR Link: Goodreads
Sometimes two broken pieces make a whole.
He’s the one she’s always loved.
She’s the one he could never have.
A forbidden night of passion resulted in years of heartbreak when he walked away. Now she’s in danger and needs his help.
Trust doesn’t come easy for FBI Agent Nick Stone, especially when it comes to love, but he’ll risk it all for Katelyn Slade.
Including his heart.
Bullets fly, betrayals are exposed, and the flames from their past ignite.
His protection might be what saves her but in the end she will be his salvation.
This is Book two in the Acts Of Honor series, the spin-off series to Men Of Honor. It’s Nick and Katelyn’s story and is told in dual POV, has an HEA with no cliffhanger and it can be read as a standalone. However, I highly recommend that you read the Men Of Honor series prior, as characters play recurring roles in both series.

He begins moving inside of me with slow, exquisite strokes, his eyes never leaving mine. He looks at me in a way I’ve longed to have someone look at me my whole life. Like I matter, like I’m important…like I am more. When it’s time for him to go back this is what I’ll remember. This is what I’ll keep close to me on the nights I ache for him, to remember that someone looked at me like this once. Even if I don’t get it for a lifetime, it’s better than not getting it at all.

Just like the man himself.

Reaching up, I cup his strong, stubbly jaw. He encircles my wrist and kisses the inside of it, right over my tattoo.

No words needed.

As more tears begin to fall he leans down and catches them with his lips. “Feel me, Kate. Feel nothing but me.”

“I do. You’re all I feel.”

“Just us,” he whispers.

“Just us.”

Oh man! Everything K.C. Lynn has written has been so good. I’ve enjoyed immensely each heroine and hero. I’ve loved reading a new book of hers and seeing the familiar secondary characters from previous books. And as always, K.C. will give you super sweet, super HOT and sexy, with a huge dose of crippling heartbreak. Katelyn and Nick. Man, oh man. They both had such sad and broken pasts that created demons they carried alongside them for too many years.

She’s loved him since she was eleven years old. At eighteen, our hero had to follow his dreams. Years later, a suspenseful circumstance brings them together and all of their dark secrets and demons come to light.

I absolutely loved these two. They stole my heart in every way. The pace of the story keeps you turning the page, and the moments between Kate and Nick tug your heart, leaving you wanted so much more once you’ve finished reading. K.C.’s story just get better and better. She writes these completely relatable characters you can’t help but get invested in as if they were real. You laugh with them (a lot!), you cry with them, you route for them and swoon when these men just get it right. I loved this story and definitely recommend it for a feel good read with a touch of sexy and suspense.

About the Author

K.C. Lynn is a small town girl living in Western Canada. She married her high school sweetheart and they have four amazing children: two lovely girls and a set of handsome twin boys. It was her love for romance books that gave K.C. the courage to sit down and write her own novel. When she is not in her writing cave, pounding out new characters and stories, she can be found living between the pages of a book, meeting new tattooed, hot alpha males with very big…Hearts.

The Writing Game is Strong

For those who’ve been around reading about my writing journey, you would know how it’s been a bit of a struggle. Editing. Flippin’ editing. I tried. I fought to make it happen. It took a long while to realize, the changes and rewrites necessary for my dystopian story was going to be a HUGE project for the benefit of the story, I also came to terms with the fact that I’m just not ready to write it. I mentioned in a recent blog that I finally made peace with that and chose to focus on my post-apocalypse story first.

Though I made the decision, there was much prep work I needed to do. It had been many months since I last drafted and worked on that story. I needed to refamiliarize myself with it. There were some character mapping and history that I needed to figure out and write before diving back in. Well, last night, I did it! All the prep work is done and I’m ready to start drafting where I left off–chapter 5. I’m really excited for this story. It’s a challenge. It’s darker than what I’m used to writing but I just feel it in my bones; it has great potential to be good. That’s where the pressure intimidates now. It can be really good…only, if I make it good.

I’m squirming, staring at that blank page thinking, “Oh, please let me do this story justice.”

I shared details with my close writer friends and they’re excited and mentioning how good it sounds and I’m like, “Yay…holy shnickies, can I deliver now?” It’s why I was being so meticulous about the important details and making notes everywhere so I wouldn’t forget to write in said details.

Today is the day.

As freaked out as I am, I have all the tools I need. I need to trust them and remember, the first draft will be shitty and that’s okay. I need to give myself permission to write shitty, as my friend told me. Editing will be my friend. I don’t fully believe it yet because it knocked me on my ass last time but the revision process will be my friend because that’s where I’ll be able to move things, take things that didn’t work out, add what’s necessary and make my manuscript all pretty and shiny for her one day debut.

Here’s to finishing chapter 5!

“I made you a promise, Charlie.” Mark’s already deep voice is layered with desire.

Once again, my control begins to slip. “What’s that?”

His hands drop a little lower beside my head. His lower body shifts so his knee is between my legs. I feel his arousal against my thigh.

My traitorous body shows its own awakening. My nipples hardening through the silk material don’t go unnoticed. Heat pools in my core and my breath hitches. I want him. There’s no use denying it.

“I told you I’d kiss you again. If you don’t stop me now, there’s no getting away.”

I should stop him. I need to stop him. There’s no way in hell it’s going to happen, though. I’m craving his lips again.

He gives me one second before he crushes his mouth against mine. His entire body shifts forward, and now I’m trapped. There’s nowhere to go. Nowhere to move that’s not Mark. He takes every part of my mind and body. Our hands roam each other as his tongue slides against mine. Passion ignites between us; it sets the room on fire. His fingers cup my neck and then glide down the front of my dress. His hand brands my skin as he takes his time exploring the open skin between us.

My fingers grip the lapels of his tux, holding him, molding him to me. I can’t get close enough. Our mouths stay fused as we both lose control.

Then my mind snaps.

I push back and my hands fly to my lips. They’re swollen, bruised from the force of the kiss. His hands brace against the wall. I keep my eyes downcast. I can’t believe I just did that, against the damn wall, at a ball commemorating my father.

I shift my dress, rake my fingers through my hair, and pull myself together.

“Charlie . . .” Mark finally speaks. It sounds like shouting even though it’s only loud enough for us to hear.

“That was the last time that will ever happen,” I say with no tremor to my voice. “Tonight we become partners. It’s not about whatever this is.” I shift my hands between us. “It’s about finding the information we’re both searching for.”

“And what if we find something else?”

“We shut it down. There’s no room for feelings in this world.”

Mark pushes back, giving me space. I instantly feel cold. “Okay, then. Have it your way.”

This is what I wanted, what we both need, but suddenly I wish it wasn’t. I wish I could pull him close, kiss him, fuck him, and just feel.

But wishes are for little girls.

EXCERPT: ‘Fighting Solitude’ by Aly Martinez

fighting solitude excerpt reveal

“Jesus Christ, Quarry! Calm down. You’re making it worse.” Till pointed toward the building where the woman I loved lay dead in a coffin.

Oh, God.

My eyes, tunneled by rage, flashed around the mob of reporters before landing on the front steps of the funeral home, where an even bigger crowd of Mia’s friends and family were watching me violently break down—again.

“I need to get out of here,” I mumbled, straightening my shirt.

“Good idea,” he replied, shoving me toward my car. “I’ll drive.”

“No. I want to be alone.”

“You can’t drive right now, Q.”

“Watch me.”

“You cannot be behind the wheel…” He carried on with some explanation, but I was more than done listening. The silence had never sounded so good.

Looking up at the sky, I sucked in a breath so deep that it caused my lungs to ache. I refused to release it though.

Don’t exhale.

Ignoring Till’s protests, I dug my keys from my pocket and folded into my car. Barely managing to squeeze around the relentless reporters, I started toward the exit.

This is not happening.

Don’t breathe.

My lungs were on fire, but it felt a hell of a lot better than what was going on in my heart, so I bit my lip and let it blaze—praying that it would eventually engulf me.

Glancing in my review mirror, I saw the cops rolling into the parking lot, but that wasn’t what made me stop. My breath left me on a rush as I slammed on the brakes the moment she came into view.

Liv was standing in the middle of the road, staring at my taillights.

Her big, brown eyes were as empty as I felt, and her face was painted with absolute anguish. Without out a single second of hesitation, I leaned over and pushed the passenger’s side door open in invitation. In a pair of heels and a short, black dress, she sprinted forward, not slowing until her ass hit my leather seat. Her door hadn’t even shut before I was off again.

After turning her cell phone off, she tossed it in the glove box. Mine quickly followed. She didn’t ask any questions as I pulled onto the highway in the exact opposite direction of both of our apartments. She didn’t want to go home any more than I did.

Our destination was unknown, and that alone made it infinitely better than the one we’d just left.

I drove.

And drove.

Then, when I was sick and tired of aimlessly driving, I drove some more.

With the exception of Liv flipping the radio on when the sun went down, we sat in absolute silence for over four hours.

Alone, yet still together.

Finally, around ten p.m., with an empty tank of gas and sleepy eyes, I slipped into a parking space in front of the apartment Liv and Mia shared. Liv didn’t delay in pushing the door open, but that’s the only effort she put into getting out.

Dropping her head against the headrest, she whispered at the windshield, “Her parents told me she left letters for us. We can pick them up whenever we’re ready.”

“I don’t want a fucking letter. She lied. She’s sorry. I got it. Nothing left to say.”

“Maybe it will explain stuff though. It might help.”

My angry gaze jumped to her, but she was still staring out the window.

“Will it bring her back?” I asked. “No? Then I don’t need a goddamn letter. Fuck that. Fuck her parents too. I don’t want shit from them.”

“They didn’t kill her, Quarry.”

“How can you say that?”

Her eyes finally met mine. “It was what Mia wanted. She signed the Do Not Resuscitate order, not them.”

“What the fuck are you doing here? Please, God, tell me you are not actually siding with them? Because, if I recall correctly, we both begged them not to give up on her. They didn’t give a shit about anyone. Liv, they didn’t even get a second opinion.”

“I’m not siding with anyone but Mia. She made a choice. We have to respect it.” Her expression was emotionless, even though her voice trembled.

“Respect it? Fuck her shitty choice. She should have respected me enough to let me have a say.”

She laughed without humor. “You never would have let her go, Q.”

I slammed the heel of my palm against the steering wheel. “You’re goddamn right I wouldn’t have!”

“She had brain cancer. It was going to happen one way or another. She knew it. And she made a decision. We don’t get to be mad about that.”

“Get the fuck out of my car.”

“No. Listen to me—”

“I’ll start listening the moment you stop spouting the bullshit her parents shoved down your throat tonight.”

She raised her voice for the first time all day. “It’s the truth!”

“It’s bullshit! All of it. How am I supposed to respect the fact that she lied to me for six months? Six fucking months that I could have used to prepare for this.”

“Oh my God, Quarry!” she yelled, exasperated. “Do you seriously think six months could have ever prepared you for this? I could have known since the day I met her and I still wouldn’t have been ready to lose her.”

“I could have tried! I could have spent that time devoted to being with her instead of traveling to fights. Jesus Christ, Liv, last weekend, I went out with the guys from the gym to play pool. The last fucking Saturday night of her life on this Earth and I was shooting pool with a bunch of assholes I can barely stand. Six months she kept the fact that she was dying a secret. Six. Fucking. Months. You’re right. I wouldn’t have been ready to let her go, but at least I could have figured out how to say goodbye. Instead, all I got was to squeeze her hand, say, ‘I love you,’ and then be escorted out of the hospital by security. Fuck!”

“That’s because you were acting like a fool and threatening her family! That was your choice!”

“Get the fuck out of my car. Now!”

“And it’s also the reason you got thrown out of the visitation tonight. Get your shit together or you won’t be allowed at the funeral tomorrow.”

“I don’t want to go to the funeral!” I shouted at the top of my lungs, making her flinch. “I don’t want there to be a funeral at all. Now, I’m serious. Get. The fuck. Out. Of my car.”

Through gritted teeth, she seethed, “You know what I’ll never understand? How you claim to be so in love with her, but in this entire conversation, I haven’t heard you say a single word that wasn’t about you. How this affects you. How this hurt you. Last time I checked, you aren’t the one being buried tomorrow.”

“I wish I were!”

“Fuck you! The world doesn’t revolve around Quarry Page!” With that, she jumped out and slammed the door.

I didn’t even wait for her to make it to the sidewalk before I was peeling out of the parking lot.

COVER REVEAL: ‘A Thousand Boy Kisses’ by Tillie Cole

It’s a very bookish week here on the blog the week!

First, we had Corinne Michael’s newest release, ‘Defenseless‘ and today, we have a treat from one of my favorite Authors of 2015 that I shared on the blog last week. For those familiar with Tillie Cole, you may know her for her NewAdult college setting romance series, ‘Sweet Home’ where she gave us wonderfully broken men who steal your hearts. Then, in her much darker motorcycle club series, ‘Hades’ Hangmen’, we get even more broken, heart-wrenching men who your heart equally bleeds for and loves. Then! Holy smokes, THEN! As if she didn’t think those stories were deeply affecting enough, we get ‘RAZE’ and ‘REAP’ who literally have me crying and falling in love simultaneously. Today, we have an interesting turn. Tillie is bringing us a mature Young Adult book that she continues giving hints saying this one will break our hearts and make us cry harder than any of her other books before…

REALLY TILLIE? How is that even possible? This woman is going to be the death of my feels. And yet, I AM SO EXCITED AND CAN NOT FREAKING WAIT!

Ah, booknerds. We’re such masochists.

Today, we get to see the BEAUTIFUL cover of this new YA heart-clencher from Tillie. Ready? Are you ready? Eh? Eh?

RELEASE DAY BLITZ: ‘Defenseless’ by Corinne Michaels

defenseless release blitz

Some of you read my post gushing about this back when I blogged a sneak peek excerpt a couple weeks ago and I’m excited to say, Mark is here! Mark has met his match in Charlie; possibly his perfect match. The ‘funny man’ of the beautiful dream team of hot, sweet, honorable men has his own story and if you’re a fan of a Corinne Michaels, you definitely don’t want to miss this one.

First, how did I not know that this was about ‘Twilight’! Mark ‘TWILIGHT’, ‘man of the cloth’, ‘bless you my child’ Dixon! Then, I had the wonderful and beautiful surprise of getting to see our other men of the series, ‘Dreamboat’ and ‘Muffin’. *heart happy sigh*

We start with a glimpse back to the mission that has affected all our men’s lives here. This also being the mission they lost Aaron. (Don’t worry, no spoilers) Charlie and Mark meet. Next, it’s one year later.

I absolutely loved Charlie. She is one of the most genuinely written strong, badass women. Other “strong” women many authors claim are their protagonist have bratty or stubborn moments but then do and think things that usually frustrate me and make me question how “strong” these women really are. Nothing about Charlie frustrated me. I think it’s because her layers were real. She is truly tough and hardcore with no bullshit but she’s still a girl who knows her vulnerability. Her inner dialogue was honest and raw but her upbringing and training taught her how to hold her own on the outside. Her outward expressions could be the meaning of life or death.

Mark and Charlie had the best back and forth banter. I’m surprised she didn’t throat punch him sometimes because he loved pushing her buttons and yet you couldn’t NOT love him for it.

What I loved about Mark so much was that, though he’s viewed as “the eternal funny guy”, the constant joker, he has a sensitive side, he’s romantic and so attentive and caring. He loves fiercely.

I enjoyed this from beginning to end. There was mystery, action, sweet moments, funny moments, sexy moments, beautiful family time and great main characters alongside secondary characters you already know and love. These two are a favorite couple in the companion series. Go read it! Do it! Now. 🙂
